The holidays are the perfect time to kick your marketing efforts into high gear. Your salon chairs are probably filled and your salon is probably overbooked from Thanksgiving through New Year's and this is an excellent opportunity to reach out to clients both current and new.

The holidays are a season of giving. Why not focus some efforts into helping a charity? Your salon could host a canned food drive, collect gifts for a family in need or donate a proceed of all retail sales to a women's charity. Encourage salon visitors to make a donation, or even local people in the community to drop off a donation. With every donation made, offer clients a raffle ticket and at the end of the holiday season raffle off a free haircut or conditioning treatment.

Promote salon gift cards in every possible way. Offer gift certificates online in addition to the salon. This way people can easily purchase services and offer them as a holiday gift even without having to come into your salon. Making a quick online purchase is more likely because it is easy and also works well as a last minute gift. In the salon, create cute gift card displays and have the receptionists offer them to clients when they check out and remind them that they make great holiday gifts.

Offer "holiday unwind" packages. Promote how busy and exhausting holiday shopping and party planning can be and offer a solution for clients to unwind and relax. Focus on spa services such as massages, pedicures and facials that really invite patrons to relax during this busy time of year.

In addition to your usual retail items order some gift baskets. Shampoo/conditioner combos, body wash and lotions and more are great gifts. Many clients that are visiting your salon for holiday services will appreciate the convenience of pre-packaged gifts. Beauty products always make great presents.

Focus on social media. While you should always be maintaining your social media sites, really get going on there around the holidays. Post holiday hair and makeup inspiration ideas, photos of the salon all decked out for holidays, mention any promotions and suggest available gift packages that patrons can purchase at the salon.

While the holidays are major time for salon business they can also be a huge opportunity to generate more. Take advantage of these holiday promotional options in order to reach a wider audience. These efforts will help when the holiday season ends and you enter into a slower season. This will be a perfect time for customers to use all of those gift cards you sold!
