With summer coming to an end a lot of your younger clients may be looking for some fresh back to school hairstyle and color ideas. Teens are more adventurous than ever and may ask for a daring cut, a shocking color or help with a trendy hairstyle like a fishtail braid. Stylists should be prepared and up to date on what the popular styles are, and be fully stocked on the latest hair equipment. Here are a few on-trend hairstyle ideas.
Fishtail Braid: Working with two sections of hair, pull a skinny strand of hair from the outside of the left section and add to the right side. Repeat on the right side. Repeat until you get to the ends, then secure with a band.
Half Up: Blow dry hair with a diffuser to get natural and extra volume. Then, use fingers to roughly comb the top half of hair back and secure in place with a few bobby pins.
Braided Up-do: Braid two, 1-inch sections on either side of the head, then pull all the hair back into a low bun.
Waves: To make more defined waves, spritz hair with a beach spray and scrunch with a diffuser. If there are any pieces that aren't holding a natural wave, use a small curling rod to give them some extra life.
For a fresh new cut, suggest your clients try some of these styles: Blunt bangs, Long layers, Side swept bangs, Medium, shoulder length with lots of layers, Pixie, Chin grazing, Blunt one length, Shag.
If your clients are nervous about getting a drastic haircut, coloring hair is always a great option for them to change up their look. Most salons are stocked with all of the hair equipment needed to pull off a variety of colors. Some of the trendy looks we're seeing now include:
Ombre: Having hair gradually change from darker at the root to light at the ends is a lot less maintenance than highlights or all over color.
Go Blonde: Whether a client wants to go platinum or just add in a few face framing highlights, lightening the hair color has a bright and fresh feel.
Deep Brown: Rich brown hues look beautiful for fall and are made even better when enhanced with a gloss treatment to make hair look extra shiny.
Fiery Red: Rich red hues are perfect for the fall and winter months. They look great with all of the fall colors and against fair skin.
Bold Colors: Whether a client wants a few funky streaks or a full head of bright blue hair, there has never been a better time to experiment with crazy colors.
So make sure your salon and styling stations are fully stocked with all of the necessary hair equipment to get the back to school crowd ready for the new year with fresh and bold looks.
